HOW DOES TEETH WHITENING WORK?

Teeth whitening is very simple. There are two kinds of bleaches that can be used (hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide). The bleach breaks stains into smaller pieces, which makes the colour less concentrated and your teeth brighter.

DOES WHITENING WORK ON ALL TEETH?

NO, whitening doesn’t work all the time which is why it is so important to consult a dentist before deciding to whiten your teeth. The following causes would not work: brown teeth, teeth with grey tones, crowned teeth, veneers, fillings and discoloured teeth caused by medications or injury.

TAKE HOME KIT

This method takes longer but can achieve the same result as in chair whitening. On the first appointment we will decided on a shade and take moulds of your teeth, which we then use to create a custom tray just for your mouth. A few days later we will ring you back in and show you how to use the tray and the correct amount of bleach to dispense. You will leave with your custom tray, and a pack of 4 syringes of bleach that should last you a good while (just make sure you keep them in the fridge). A review will be completed in two weeks where we will decide on a shade.

We recommend using sensitive toothpaste throughout the whole bleaching process.

Teeth Whitening

WHAT IS IT AND WHEN IS IT NEEDED?

Brushing your teeth and using dental floss is essential to keep your teeth clean, healthy and sparkling white. Still, if you feel your smile is lacking more sparkle and is more yellow than it used to be, you’re in the right place. Teeth whitening lightens up teeth and helps to remove stains and discolouration. Whitening is among the most popular cosmetic dental procedures because it can greatly improve how your teeth look.
